Amazing before and after upholstery this week on Design*Sponge.

Looks We Love: Luxe Bedroom

This bedroom featured in this roundup on Houzz is so beautiful and luxe!

Love the various green tones in the room – it looks so peaceful in there! Heres a design board for this space:


We used a Kravet cream silk for the headboard, a Kravet green velvet for the bedspread, and this olive toned silk for the footstools.

Love this brightly colored striped couch from a San Francisco victorian in Remodelista!

Lucky Susan Kim scored the 1952 Florence Knoll sofa in a local vintage store and recovered it with fabric by Alexander Girard. We’ve got some great stripes in stock right now for you to recreate this look:

Comfy Chair Series

I know this post on mending torn upholstery from Make:Craft is from a while ago, but I just came across it and thought it was too good to share!

Here’s what you need for this project – a very strong nylon thread and a curved needle. This kind of needle is usually packaged as a “mattress needle” or “upholstery needle.” The curved shape allows you to sew easily on a flat surface, like a sofa cushion. They also recommend Fray Check, a clear liquid that will harden the edge of the fabric slightly and prevent further fraying.

Looks We Love

Came across the tumbler blog Iced Coffee and Peonies today, and boy is it a breathe of fresh air!

It’s theme is all things southern and it is a dizzying and exhilarating array of imagery – from puppies and beaches to gorgeous and bright interiors and exteriors. It’s definitely inspirational if you are looking to add a little color into your life!

I particularly love this interior – it’s do bright and warm and cozy all at the same time:
